The Story

Lil Soraya is a sportive millennial woman — colourful and hypnotic. She is standing in a tiny street of Kelaat M'gouna in Morocco, situated in the Dades Valley. Dades Valley is known as the Valley of Roses, and every year it bursts into bloom with thousands of soft pink, fragrant roses.

She is about to celebrate — time for folk dancing, singing, always on her roller skates. Dressed in her traditional attire in full-covered sequins, she became a local celebrity as a champion of rural women's rights. For her, the roses aren't just good for M'goun's local economy; they also demonstrate the changing role of women in Moroccan society.

The artist has her own unique approach to the traditional art of embroidery that she infuses with modern elements and a quirky touch. Azaïdé sincerely believes that the embroidered garments protect her female characters from troubles and give them the power to show their true self and shine brighter.
