The Story

Upholding tradition while embracing modernity and looking towards the future, Hustla Huda is a sportive millennial woman — colourful, magnetic and daring. She stands out in the male-dominated hip-hop/rap music industry. Characterized by defiance and rebellion, she looks the viewer straight in the eye while a bandana in traditional paisley pattern protects her identity, under construction.

Modern elements derived from pop culture are infused with traditional elements forming a background of a rich heritage that Hustla Huda takes with her to move forward with style and confidence.

The garment carries a reference to African fabrics, notably the loincloth from Sub-Saharan Africa, which has become a textile art rich in meanings and part of everyday life. Just like during electoral and awareness campaigns in Africa in the 19th century, Hustla Huda wears this evocative garment as a real communication tool to showcase her personality and stimulate conversations.

The artist has her own unique approach to the traditional art of embroidery that she infuses with modern elements and a quirky touch. Azaïdé sincerely believes that the embroidered garments protect her female characters from troubles and give them the power to show their true self and shine brighter.
